Carole Walker (ex-Woodhead) is to be CEO of Hermes Europe, based in Hamburg, and there will also be other changes to the board at the delivery firm.
Walker will be responsible for the leadership of all European logistics activities at the Otto Group, taking the place of her predecessor Donald Pilz.
Walker had been CEO of Hermes UK since 2009, and had been Managing Director between 04-09 and prior to that, Operations Director for three years.
Martijn de Lange is to replace Walker as CEO of Hermes UK. This is in line with the delivery company’s previously announced succession plan. De Llange was Managing Director at Hermes since March, after serving as COO for several years. As MD, de Lange had been responsible for the day to day running of Hermes UK.
Commenting on the announcement, Walker, said: “This new role is an amazing opportunity for me to use my experience, industry expertise and UK success to help support and develop Hermes’ businesses across Europe. I am excited about the possibilities and opportunities, not only for me personally, but for us as a Group.”
Martijn de Lange,added: “We are making the transition from an operational business to a more customer experience and technology driven organisation and this is an exciting time for us. I am really looking forward to taking this agenda forward, and of course focusing Hermes on our current priority, which is to ensure that we deliver a fantastic Peak for our retailers.”
