The GMB union has announced that the House of Fraser distribution centre in Milton Keynes is due to close on 27 November.

It is unclear what will happen to the Wellingborough site, though some speculate that operations will continue until at least March 2019.

Work apparently restarted at both the Milton Keynes and Wellingborough distribution centres on Wednesday, so no official announcement has been made by new owners Sports Direct or XPO Logistics that operates the site.

The GMB union has said that it is been informed that the closure of Milton Keynes with the loss of 300 jobs.

Meanwhile the House of Fraser website was still suspended on Friday but is expected to reopen for online sales in the coming days.

After House of Fraser went into administration, XPO logistics suspended operations at both sides. XPO logistics was owed more than £30 million by House of Fraser.
