Channel Islands based Jersey Post have announced they expect around 400,000 parcels to be handled in December, after the peak season began in November.
Daily parcel volumes are expected to roughly double by comparison to quieter months. With Black Friday being later than normal this year the peak season is set to have increased daily volumes in a more compressed period.
“Black Friday has been the start of the real peak, so it’s later this year than in previous years, so we’re going to see a doubling of the number of parcels that we normally handle during December as we have the run up Christmas. So it’s keeping our guys very busy,” said Niall McClure, MD for Post and Logistics at Jersey Post.
