John Lewis Partnership is to open its click & collect distribution network to third party retailers in a pilot.
The first company to use the distribution network will be fashion retailer Boden, with John Lewis planning to invite other brands. Where Boden customers have made a purchase before 19:00 they will be able to collect their goods by the end of the next working day from an initial 30 Waitrose shops.
Bérangère Michel, partner and operations director John Lewis & Partners said: “This is a great example of how we are combining the capabilities of John Lewis and Waitrose to deliver what retail needs, at a time when the sector is changing at an extraordinary pace.”
For the John Lewis Partnership, click & collect orders have grown by around 50%. Currently some 57% of its online orders are delivered through the offering – around three quarters being picked up at Waitrose shops and a quarter at John Lewis department stores.
