Matson Logistics launches new LCL service from China to New York

A new less than container load (LCL) service to to be run between China, New York and New Jersey, run by Matson Logistics Supply Chain Services (SCS).

It is claimed to offer the fastest transit times in the trans-Pacific trade, and is based on SCS existing China – Long Beach Express service.

Matson has collaborated with JAD International for expedited coast-to-coast transport.

Under the new service, Matson will offer LCL freight receipt at origin CFS locations in Shanghai, Dalian, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Ningbo, Qingdao, Shenzhen, Tianjin, and Xiamen.

Other service benefits include weekly Matson sailings from Shanghai via Long Beach to New York/New Jersey and Shanghai to New York/New Jersey in 14 days with cargo availability.

Matson is also providing service options, comprising of origin pick-up and expedited door delivery at destination.

Matson Logistics SCS sales and marketing director Jeffrey Ivinski said: “We listened to our clients’ needs and in collaboration with JAD International, we are proud to bring this premium service to the market.

“Matson created an alternative to costly air freight to the West Coast and now we are bringing expedited service to the important New York metro market. To compete with air freight we not only have to be fast but also extremely reliable.”

Matson Logistics SCS is a subsidiary of Matson Logistics, which provides freight consolidation, customs brokerage, purchase order management, and non-vessel operating common carrier services.

While output is slowing overall from China, there are a number of new routes opening between China and the US East Coast as companies seek ever faster ways from manufacturer to market. This is the latest attempt at speeding up the supply chain.
