New Amazon fulfilment centre opened near Prague

Amazon’s new 95,000 square metre fulfilment centre at Dobrovíz near Prague has been officially opened by the Czech Republic’s Trade and Industry Minister on the 8th September.

The new centre has around 1500 employees on site even though it has only just begun full scale operations. Amazon began building the facility in September 2014. When fully operational the centre will have around 2,000 employees on site.

The fulfilment centre is where the company prepares and dispatches goods to the customer in the country in question. Amazon is opening five new facilities in new EU countries including three in Poland.

The opening ceremony was attended by Jan Mládek, the Czech Trade and Industry Minister. Amazon’s work in the Czech Republic has been supported by the Czech government since plans were first mooted to build it.
