New supply chain VP at Target Corp

US omni-channel giant Target Corp has announced that Gemma Kubatas is to be senior VP, supply chain engineering and activation. In the role, Kubat is to lead the design, activation and ongoing management of assets that support Target’s global supply chain and logistics network.

Kubatas is to start in the new role at Target on the 6th August and is to report to the Target executive VP and chief supply chain officer Arthur Valdez, Jr.

In her CV, Kubat has worked in leadership roles in human resources, innovation, finance, logistics and strategy. In her most recent position she was VP, global business services at Walmart, and before that at Asda.

“We’re bringing together stores, digital channels, technology and supply chain to make shopping at Target even easier and more convenient,” said Valdez. “Gemma’s talent for applying advanced solutions across large organizations is exactly the right fit for Target as we continue transforming our supply chain to meet the needs of our guests.”

Target aims to leverage its network of more than 1800 US stores and to transform its supply chain and logistics capabilities. The change programme has been essential to allow ‘guests’ free, two-day shipping nationwide as well as same-day delivery through the Shipt delivery network in 150 markets and the roll-out of Drive Up services.

“Success in today’s retail environment requires a supply chain that’s both cost effective and nimble to provide a convenient shopping experience,” said Kubat. “I’m excited to join the Target team and be a part of its differentiated approach that is leading the industry in fulfilment options for guests.”
