Luke Jensen, current CEO of Ocado Solutions, is to join the Board of Ocado from the 1st March. He is to be an Executive Director.
Ocado Solutions is seen as a strong growth area for Ocado as it handles the company’s partnerships with other retailers.
Since Jensen joined Ocado this time last year he has overseen the signing of three international partnerships between Ocado Solutions and Sobeys in Canada, Groupe Casino in France, and an unnamed European retailer. He also managed the relationship with the first Ocado Solutions client Morrisons which use the OSP platform for its own grocery deliveries.
While Ocado’s main business as an online grocer hasn’t quite worked out as intended, the partnerships have brought about growth for company even as its other business has stagnated. Jensen’s elevation to the Group Board is a sign of how seriously this side of the business is taken at the company.
In a statement issued yesterday (1 February), Lord Rose, Chairman of Ocado, said: “I am very pleased to welcome Luke to the Ocado Board. Luke has led the Ocado Solutions team which has delivered three international deals for the Company in the past 12 months. The Board is confident that Ocado Solutions will create significant long term value to the Group and we believe it is important to have this business represented at Board level.”
Jensen added: “I am excited to be joining the Board of Ocado at this point in the Group’s growth. My first year has been transformational for the business and I look forward to growing the Ocado Solutions business and to welcoming more major grocers to our expanding list of international partners powered by Ocado Smart Platform.”
