Online groceries giant Ocado has announced it is expanding its same-day Ocado Zoom service across Greater London.
Ocado Zoom was originally piloted in 2019 in Acton, and offered same day delivery services as well as a within-the-hour delivery offering to customers within a certain distance of its dark store micro-fulfilment centre.
The service offers up to 10,000 products, 20% of that offered by the main Ocado grocery delivery service, and gives customers the choice of same-day delivery or sooner if requested for an additional fee.
In last week’s trading statement Ocado said: “The first micro site, in West London, Ocado Zoom, is already full, a year ahead of schedule. A second London site has been secured and we are looking for an additional dozen sites within London’s M25 orbital motorway to support the ambitious roll-out plan of Ocado Retail.”
According to Tim Steiner, CEO of Ocado, Ocado Zoom is searching for sites of between 10,000 and 20,000 square feet for its new dark stores.
