Parcel Connect’s millionth parcel

Irish parcel delivery company Parcel Connect has announced that it has handled its one millionth parcels after a successful year end 2015. This represents around €75 million worth of goods through its system since the company launched at the end of 2013.

Fastway Couriers and Payzone set up the company, which allows customers to send, return and collect online goods directly or via Payzone shops and other Parcel Connect collection points.

Parcel Connect said that its monthly growth has been around 8% in 2015, and an annual growth of around 60%. Its latest figures suggest that the festive season saw growth of over 30%. In a statement, Parcel Connect said that this growth “matched the wider industry, as Irish shoppers continually move online to do the bulk of their Christmas shopping”.

The bulk of Parcel Connect’s business facilitates online shoping by consumers from Ireland buying from UK based retailers such as Boohoo, Miss-Guided and ASOS, though the company said that it is “developing more solutions for Irish retailers to take advantage of its service”.

Danny Hughes, CEO of Parcel Connect, said of Parcel Connect’s one millionth parcel, “This milestone is a significant one for Parcel Connect in what has been another year of growth for us in 2015. To have consistent month-on-month growth is a great achievement for us, and we are particularly excited to see record volumes in online shopping deliveries as consumers increasingly see the value of our personalized innovative service to support their order, delivery, collection and returns needs.”

He added: “Looking ahead, we have a clear roadmap that will see us average at least 50% more parcels per week by Q3 2016 and as a result I’m very confident that we’ll reach our two-millionth parcel before October Next year.” Such confidence is typical of a delivery company exploiting the Irish e-commerce market.
