Pickup parcel lockers to be installed at 45 Paris train stations

France’s La Poste Group pick-up/drop-off subsidiary Pickup is to roll out 50 smart lockers in 45 underground train stations and RER regional train stations around Paris by the end of the first quarter of 2022.

Twenty of these have already been installed at 15 underground and five railway stations. The tender was put out by the Parisian government due to the pandemic both making contactless delivery more necessary and leading to a 32% growth in e-commerce in 2020.

Customers using the delivery companies Colissimo and Chronopost, ordering from more than 10,000 websites in France offering Pickup as a delivery option, will be able to use the parcel lockers. The lockers are opened with a one-time code sent to the customer when the parcel is placed inside it.

Olivier Titeux, Pickup Development Director said, “For over 20 years, Pickup has employed solutions to make life easier for its customers, by operating as close to their homes as possible. These 50 new RATP lockers will be available to Parisians on their daily journeys so that they can collect their parcels with great ease. They will complement our network of 16,000 shopkeeper pickup points and 500 lockers, further enhancing our long-standing close proximity to consumers. We are very proud of this partnership and deployment, which will greatly enhance the customer experience.”
