State owned Posta Slovenije has acquired the majority of shares in the regional parcels and express operator Intereuropa.
Intereuropa has not been formally informed as to how much was paid for the 72.13% of the express delivery company’s shares the postal operator bought.
The acquisition is subject to certain terms, including approval from the Slovenian state competition authority, and once these have been met the remaining shares of Intereuropa will be acquired.
According to Slovenian media reports, Posta Slovenije will acquire 72% of the share capital of Intereuropa for 105 million euro ($118.4 million).
Posta Slovenije has committed to assume a 70 million debt of Intereuropa and expects to close the transaction in the coming months.
Posta Slovenije is facing a decline in traditional mail volumes and is moving towards a bigger parcels operation. The acquisition is consistent with this direction of travel.
