Posti agrees employment package with unions

As part of an agreement with unions to increase flexibility of Posti’s sorting personnel, the Finnish postal operator and trades unions have agreed a remuneration package that will not fall at least until January 31, 2022. They will be given pay rises on April 1, 2020.

“The arrangement guarantees that the total remuneration of parcel sorting personnel will not be impacted until January 31, 2022. The objective of the change in the collective agreement of parcel sorting personnel is to increase flexibility. It allows us to offer more flexible services to our customers and will help us keep jobs and also create new jobs in the future,” says Turkka Kuusisto, Senior Vice President of Posti’s Parcel and eCommerce business group.

The new collective agreement is set to start on November 1. In return for the pay guarantees sorting staff are to increase the flexibility of their hours and working conditions. This will allow Posti to better meet rapid changes in the business environment and customer needs.

In the eyes of the postal operator, competition for parcel delivery is very tough and to be able to withstand that the company’s staff need to increase their flexibility. Parcels and e-commerce are a significant area as Posti transitions from being a postal operator to a parcels operator following global trends.
