PostNL offers “Change Delivery” service

PostNL customers can now change the delivery time and location for their parcels using a new service run through the PostNL app or the track & trace desktop system.

The PostNL Change Delivery service will allow consumers to adjust the delivery time and location “as soon as the parcel has arrived in the PostNL sorting centre until 6am on the day of delivery”.

Liesbeth Kaashoek, director of Parcels and Logistics at PostNL, said: “We have noticed that recipients enjoy having more control over when and where they receive their parcels. The new ‘Change delivery service’ is our way of responding to this wish, yet another step in making our delivery options more flexible. And we will continue making such steps, in which we further encourage the online shopping market.”

While different nations have different preferences in regard delivery, almost universally in Europe, customers want more flexibility in their time and location of delivery. Germany’s Deutsche Post and Swiss Post have been testing out ‘in boot delivery’, and PostNL is not the first in the sector to offer flexible delivery times and locations. The offering should make the Dutch postal operator more competitive with its privately owned rivals in the marketplace.
