Dutch parcels and postal operator PostNL is taking on 500 new Saturday delivery staff thanks to an agreement with its Trades Unions.
Under the agreement the existing 17,000 employees will see a pay rise and compensation while the new staff will receive pay and compensation packages also agreed by the unions.
PostNL will take on 500 new staff and is offering 200 existing temporary staff permanent positions. 30 new temporary roles are to be created at its international parcel sorting centre.
Three trade unions, Bond van Post Personeel, CNV Publieke Diensten and VHP2 have signed up to the agreement.
The FNV union has opposed the agreement on its stance that PostNL should not use third party contracting. It accused the agency Tempo Team of not observing the collective labour agreements at PostNL.
