Dutch postal operator PostNL is to continue its investment in Italian delivery company Nexive. The company has been reviewing its international investments as part of a wider programme to rationalise the business as a whole.

Nexive is a major mail and parcel operator in Italy, with a last mile delivery network that reaches around 80% of the population. Operating since 1998, it has 5500 employees who handle around 500 million items a year.

In a statement confirming PostNL’s interests in working with the firm, PostNL said, “Nexive contributes positively to PostNL’s results and has growth potential in the Italian market for mail and parcels.”

PostNL has been conducting a review of its international investments as part of an attempt to rationalise its business. Recently it looked at UK company Whistl, and decided to support a management buyout of the firm. It is currently reviewing its activities in Germany as well.
