Nordic postal operator PostNord is to retain business communications company Strålfors. The Swedish and Danish postal operator is in the midst of a major reorganisation and had considered divesting Strålfors as part of a wider rationalisation of the business.
PostNord will instead integrate the physical and digital communication products that Strålfors offers into the wider business, though the company itself will remain as a subgroup. Strålfors will be merged into a new Communications Services area of the wider PostNord company.
PostNord, which is jointly owned by the Swedish and Danish governments, is undergoing a major reorganisation due to declining mail volumes in the Nordic region – 15% in Denmark and 5% in Sweden. It has just shed 800 administrative jobs across both countries.
Even though there have been declines in mail services, Business to Customer parcel deliveries saw a 21% increase in the last twelve months.
