Royal Mail has developed a new Amazon Echo skill – a last posting dates skill that people will be able to ask Alexa for. The skill is comprehensive and can give people the last Christmas posting date for anywhere in the world as well as for British Forces Post Office (BFPO).
The hope at Royal Mail is that the new service will encourage people to post by the deadline date and not be late in hope. It should reduce postal delivery staffs’ workloads in the week between Christmas and the New Year.
The Alexa skill is part of a wider financial investment in additional peak season resources this Christmas to improve its customer service ratings across the UK.
Ben Rhodes, Director of Group Marketing at Royal Mail, said: “We are always looking for new and innovative ways to remind people of the last posting dates to every destination in the world and for the UK’s own last posting dates, Alexa fitted the bill.
“We are really pleased that last posting dates will be delivered by Alexa to make life a little bit easier for many households all over the country. This in turn helps cards, letters and parcels to be delivered on time so that loved ones can enjoy them no matter where they are in the world.”
