1,222 new collection points for the Royal Mail Local Collect have been opened at delivery offices across the UK. The network already has 10,500 collection points at Post Offices around the country.
Amazon will be the first company to use the new collection points, though SMEs and contract customers have been able to use the Post Office network since the operation was launched in 2013.
With the drive for ever more convenient forms of online shopping, click and collect services have been growing in popularity among online customers.
Royal Mail Parcels Managing Director Nick Landon said of the extension of the service, “The extension of the network to include Royal Mail customer service points gives more options and more flexibility to consumers, making Local Collect not only the biggest but also the most convenient collection network in the UK.”
