Royal Mail – lockdown brought about entrepreneurial surge

Royal Mail has published research showing that nearly 16,000 e-commerce companies were founded between March and July 2020 as people in lockdown used the opportunity to test the water with their business ideas.

At the same time, Royal Mail saw a substantial shift in its business from letters to parcels. Parcel volumes grew by 34% (177 million more parcels), while parcel revenues grew by 33.1% year on year for the five months to 31st August.
