Russian Post sees 25% growth in international parcels

In its preliminary Q3 trading statement, Russian Post said that it has increased its international shipment volumes in the first nine months of 2018.

The Russian postal operator is planning a major upgrade of its infrastructure with a planned 38 new logistics centres. Russian Post is also expanding its partnerships with eBay and Ikea.

The preliminary results also showed that the postal operator processed some 259 million international shipments that included import, export and transit items with product enclosures (parcels, small packages, EMS shipments). This amounts to a 25% increase on the same period in 2017 when it handled 208 million items.

CEO Nikolai Podgusov said: “The shipment volumes from abroad show a significant increase. We predict that by the end of 2018, we will process more than 354 million international shipments, which would be 25% more than last year. Russian Post is constantly working on the development of transport and logistics facilities in order to process the increasing volumes of parcels as quickly as possible.”
