The CollectPlus parcel store network has launched a new ‘Social Send’ service where people can send parcels even if they do not know the recipient’s address.
According to CollectPlus the Social Send service will be convenient for online sellers who “use mobile marketplaces to sell items and as a result, don’t have the buyers’ address details”.
When Social Send is selected by the person to whom the good are to be delivered, CollectPlus will send them a link to choose from one of the 6500 CollectPlus stores around the UK for collection. The sender then drops the parcel at their own local CollectPlus store for delivery.
When the parcel reaches its destination the recipient will be notified. CollectPlus will send the sender proof of delivery. Both parties can track the parcel, which will be kept at the store of delivery for up to 10 days after it arrives.
The Social Send service is priced from £4.99, with 3 to 5-day delivery including £50 of transit cover as standard.
Matthew Jacques, Strategic Partnerships Director at CollectPlus, said: “We’ve created a service that makes sending parcels on your mobile as simple and convenient as sending money through PayPal. In a world where we have more connections than ever before but rarely know the postal addresses of our contacts, Social Send is the ultimate in convenience.
“We expect Social Send to be popular with buyers and sellers on marketplaces like Depop, who want to send or receive an item without disclosing their address or having to meet up in person.”
