Steady 2019 growth at Austrian Post

Parcel revenue growth helped Austrian Post’s revenues grow by 3.2% to €2bn in 2019.

The Parcel & Logistics Division saw revenues grow by 15.9% in Austria and at its southeast and eastern European subsidiaries, 8.7%. Online shopping drove the growth though competition and price pressures squeezed it even so.

Georg Poelzl, CEO of Austrian Post, said, “The partnership between Austrian Post and Deutsche Post DHL Group in Austria launched on August 1, 2019, has started off very well. From a logistics perspective, Austrian Post has effectively managed the major challenge of coping with increased daily delivery and transport volumes since then.”


As ever, mail volumes and revenues continue to fall – this time by 0.8%. The General Data Protection Regulation uncertainty has also impacted the fall.

Gross profits at the postal operator (EBITDA) were €319 million, up 4.3%.
