Swiss Post is piloting a new innovation called Post Home where customers can order parcel collections and other Swiss Post products using a device similar to the Amazon Dash button.
Last week the postal operator released a statement saying that the pilot will involve around 1000 households in Sissach, Olten and Liestal. The Post Home pilot is to finish towards the end of August.
“A simple click of the button is all it takes for them to be able to hand over parcels or letters on their doorstep to delivery staff the following day,” said Swiss Post.
The company explained how it works: “The Post Home Button is a small device that sends Swiss Post a signal via a wireless network at the push of a button. It is easy to use: one click is all it takes to request a Swiss Post service or place an order. It is possible to request predefined products and services, such as mail collection or A and B Mail stamps, using the Post Home Button and the relevant order cards.
Three companies – Migros Aare, Qualipet and Domino’s Pizza – will use the Post Home button to see whether this technology can simplify ordering their own goods. In addition, Swiss Post is also piloting greater use of its mobile app, to include ordering a range of different products and services.
