Omni-channel retailer Target has announced it is to offer same-day deliveries through Shipt from 57 stores in South Florida and Birmingham, AL, from the 1st of February.
Target acquired Shipt in the later part of 2017 with the intention of rolling out same-day delivery to stores right across the US.
Where a customer is using the Shipt service they buy the goods on the online marketplace. Shipt ‘shoppers’ take the orders, visit a local store, buy the products required and then deliver them to the user, usually within a few hours of the order being made.
In a statement, John Mulligan, chief operating officer, Target, said: “Our teams moved at lightning speed to get Target up and running on Shipt’s platform in less than eight weeks. And we’re not stopping there—we’ll keep expanding, with plans to offer Shipt’s services at nearly half our stores by the end of first quarter, and the majority of stores by the 2018 holiday season, making Target the first retailer to be able to offer same-day delivery in all major markets across the country.”
