Target targets Amazon this peak season

US Target shoppers will be able to receive their items within 48 hours with no extra fees between 1st November and December 22nd.

This is seen as a move to take on Amazon and Walmart during the coming peak season.

Unlike previous peak season offers, there will be no minimum purchase requirement and the customer does not have to have a Target REDcard.

“We want to make the busy holiday season easier for our guests so they can spend more time with their family and friends,” said Target CEO Brian Cornell. “From same-day delivery with Shipt, Drive Up, Free 2-Day Shipping and more, no other retailer can match the convenient delivery options that Target will offer this season. When you combine these services with our incredible assortment of exclusive brands, everyday low prices and skilled team, I’m confident Target will be America’s easiest and most enjoyable place to shop for the holidays and beyond.”

Target recently acquired the last mile delivery company Shipt. For Target customers this means that they can have one of 55,000 SKUs delivered within one hour.

The US retailer has also improved its Drive Up collection service where customers can collect their goods from more than 1000 stores nationwide. This applies to some 250,000 SKUs.
