Tesco trials partnership with Gorillas

Tesco customers near Croydon in Surrey will be able to have their goods delivered within half an hour on the Gorillas super-fast delivery app. This is a pilot being run by Tesco at its Thornton Heath shop

The pilot will allow customers to have goods from a selection of 2,000 SKUs delivered within half an hour. Gorillas is setting up a micro-fulfilment centre in warehouse space in the store. A further four are to be set up in the near future.

According to Tesco, the aim of the partnership is to make its online offer more appealing and convenient to its customers. This goes hand in hand with the grocery giant’s in-house fast delivery offering Tesco Whoosh that is now being offered at 50 stores – and is set to be rolled out to a further 50 by the end of the year.

Jason Tarry, Tesco UK & ROI chief executive officer said, “The idea that we can reach our customers in just ten minutes is really exciting. We are committed to being easily the most convenient choice for our customers, enabling them to shop whenever and however they want.

Chief operating officer for Gorillas, Adrian Frenzel, said the “co-location partnership” would “bring unprecedented value” to Brits.
