Uber starts roll out of Scheduled Rides

Uber has launched a programme called Scheduled Rides after a successful pilot. People will be able to schedule UberX rides up to 30 days in advance. The roll out began in Seattle on Thursday and “other top business travel cities” are coming onboard.

Those booking with Scheduled Rides will be sent reminders both 24 hours and 30 minutes in advance of their pickup, and they will also be notified once the ride is on the way.

In its blog post announcing the new service, Uber said, “Since the option to schedule a ride is a top-requested feature from business travelers, we’re excited to give priority access to riders who have Business Profiles or are linked to their company’s Uber for Business account.”

One of Uber’s biggest customers in Seattle is Microsoft which said in a statement, Seattle has grown into one of the world’s great technology markets, and we’re excited to see Uber launch new and innovative features here first. With Scheduled Rides, Uber is continuing to help us all make the most of our time.”

Uber sees the Scheduled Rides as being particularly useful for business travellers arranging their early morning rides to the airport – but the scheduling feature may also be something that Uber can extend across to its delivery services in the future.
