Thanks to the pandemic increasing parcel throughput in the UK mail system, the Post Office’s Drop & Go service for businesses and online sellers has seen a 30% growth in use since mid-March.
In addition, the rate of sign ups to the Post Office service has surged by 350% as against the same period last year. This has been helped with the Post Office launching an online sign-up process for the Drop & Go service. Until that change, after signing up customers had to validate their ID at a local branch, but now no longer need to do so.
Mark Siviter, Managing Director of Mails and Retail at the Post Office, said: “For small businesses, particularly new ones, being able to get goods out to customers quickly will play a key part in the nation’s recovery from coronavirus. We are here to support the UK’s entrepreneurs. Our Drop & Go service enables them to send their parcels quickly whilst at the same time minimising time spent in our branches and helping us ensure safe social distancing.”
