UPS to run daily flights from US to UAE

There are to be daily nonstop flights from the UPS Worldport air cargo hub in Louisville, Kentucky to Dubai in the UAE.

According to UPS the direct flights will “improve time-in-transit from North and South America to key destinations in the Middle East by a full business day”.

The new air cargo service, to be done by one of UPS new 747-8F jumbo jet freighters, is part of the logistics and delivery company’s smart global logistics network. It is also being done as part of UPS role as global logistics provider for the Dubai Expo 2020.

Currently UPS runs the flight on a weekly basis but the daily service will begin on the 27th February from Tuesday to Saturday.

“The UAE trades with all 50 U.S. states and has grown to become the U.S.’s largest export destination in the Middle East. Dubai’s importance as a global trade hub increases every day – and we’re now getting there a day faster from North and South America with our small package express carrier and cargo offerings,” said Jim Barber, President, UPS International.

The 7,700 mile route will be the longest regularly scheduled air cargo service that UPS has ever run. The 747-8F jets make this possible with their high payload capacity over greater range.
