UPS upgrades Tennessee sorting facility

Logistics giant UPS has announced the completion of its expansion of the Whitescreek, Tennessee ground package sorting and distribution unit.

“UPS is transforming our operations to provide innovative solutions that serve the changing needs of small, medium and large businesses. Doubling our Whitescreek hub’s size and capacity, and powering it with UPS’s advanced technology help enable our customers to grow their business,” said Cher Porties, president of UPS’s Mid-South District.  “We are excited to generate new jobs and further contribute to Nashville and Middle Tennessee’s rapid growth.”

Automation features highly in the expansion with packages moving rapidly through the scanning and sorting process while data is captured for delivery accuracy. This is part of a UPS-wide strategic investment package that aims to grow the company’s smart logistics network. The Whitescreek site both distributes parcels to Nashville and surrounding counties as well as sending others outside of the state.
