US Postal Service – mail takes 2.7 days from posting to delivery

Second quarter performance metrics for the US Postal Service show it continues to deliver mail in an average of 2.7 days. According to the postal operator it continues to focus on precision of delivery to improve First Class Mail performance.

Between January 1st and March 11:

– First-Class Mail: 86.3 percent of First-Class Mail delivered on time against the USPS service standard, a decrease of 2.8 percentage points from the fiscal first quarter.
– Marketing Mail: 91.9 percent of Marketing Mail delivered on time against the USPS service standard, consistent with performance from the fiscal first quarter.
– Periodicals: 81.0 percent of Periodicals delivered on time against the USPS service standard, consistent with performance from the fiscal first quarter.

As part of the Delivering for America strategic plan, the US Postal Service aims to meet or exceed 95% on-time service performance for all mail and shipping products.
