USPS Connect Local expands in Texas

The US Postal Service has expanded its USPS Connect Local service pilot programme in Texas.

USPS describes the service as being able to “provide local-to-local same-day or next-day package delivery at affordable rates”.

The postal operator explains that the service that has now been expanded to El Paso, allows local businesses to bring their prepaid, labelled packages to the back dock of a postal facility that is closest to the package destination. It is then taken by USPS to the destination the same day or next day.

USPS Connect Local is a pilot programme designed to offer small and medium businesses a low cost same-day and next day delivery option. With the business taking the packages to the local USPS depot, so they are offered delivery rates that are usually only offered to large-volume shippers.

“This is the first time in the history of the organisation that we’ve piloted this type of process,” said Jakki Krage Strako, USPS chief commerce and business solutions officer and executive vice president. “We’re excited to offer affordable fast delivery options to help neighbourhood businesses meet consumer needs and grow.”
