Volker Ratzmann moves from politics to DHL

Volker Ratzmann is to be Deutsche Post DHL’s Executive Vice President of Corporate Public Policy & Regulation Management as of the 1st May. He succeeds Rainer Wend who has been in post since 2009 and who retired in 2019.

Ratzmann joins DHL from the public sector. His previous role was Secretary of the German State Ministry and authorised representative for the State of Baden-Württemberg in Berlin. Amongst other achievements in this role he worked on the DigitalPakt Schule initiative that equips schools with digital technology.

A qualified lawyer with his degree from the Free University of Berlin, Ratzmann had been active in politics since 2001.

“With his broad experience in politics as well as his comprehensive expertise in the field of regulation management, he will be a great asset to our company,” said Frank Appel, CEO of Deutsche Post DHL Group. “We are convinced that Volker Ratzmann is best qualified to represent the Group’s interests in the national and international political arena.”
