Whistl invests £12m in renewing vehicle fleet

Leading UK logistics, e-fulfilment, mail and parcels delivery company Whistl has announced it is to spend £12 million in renewing and expanding its fleet.

Over the next 12 months, Whistl is to update its fleet with Euro VI compliant, 17 Peugeot Boxer 435 Vans; 26 18t and 17 26t ridged trucks; and 126 Renault T-Range Tractor Units. It is also to take on 115 new trailers including box trailers and curtain trailers.

As part of the investment, Whistl says it is leasing the Peugeot Boxer 435 vans so they can be swapped for electric vans when they become available.

As well as the investment in physical assets, Whistl is to consolidate all of its transport fleet across the Group under a new transport management system that the firm says will better utilise vehicles, maximise loads and reduce mileage.

Alastair Cochrane, CEO of Whistl said of the news, “We are continuing to invest in our fleet right across the Group including the businesses we have acquired in the last few years, such as Parcelhub, It is important that we ensure that we operate efficiently and as environmentally sustainable as possible; our flexible lease contracts on the Boxer Vans reflect this”
