Wickes farms out home delivery to Wincanton

Logistics firm Wincanton has announced it is to work with home improvement and DIY retailers Wickes for the next three years to do home deliveries of big and bulky items that require specialist vehicles.

The deliveries include bags of building materials, bricks, blocks and large garden equipment. Until recently, Wickes had operated an in-house solution for these deliveries from its store hubs around the UK. Wincanton will now take responsibility for much of this operation and will be able to scale up or scale down the service according to seasonal demand. 

Wincanton has said it is going to implement new technology in order to support Wickes’s multichannel strategy to include the Flexipod in-cab solution.
