Wickes launches Hourly service

Home improvement and trades supplier Wickes has announced that is to run a new delivery service called Wickes Hourly that gives customers a choice of one hour delivery time slots. The service is to be offered nationwide through a partnership with CitySprint’s On the Dot following a successful pilot of the offering.

Customers and tradespeople can chose from any of more than 7,000 products available through Wickes Hourly and orders can be made online or through a customer service team. For £9.5 they can be offered precise one hour time slots, seven days a week.

The Wickes Hourly service compliments the range of fulfilment options currently available to Wickes customers, which include next day delivery and one hour click & collect.

Duncan Kendal, Supply Chain Director at Wickes, said of Wickes Hourly, “At Wickes, we pride ourselves on making our customers’ lives that little bit easier and we’re excited to say we’re the first to market with this new delivery option in our sector.’’

On the dot is operated by the courier company CitySprint. This is a national service that has been reaching out to national omnichannel retailers to deliver goods in short time spans. Customer demand has shown a real appetite for one hour and same day delivery services, as can be seen through the success of B2C couriers around London and the expansion of Amazon’s Prime Now service.
