European fashion and lifestyle online retailer Zalando is expanding its footprint in Poland by building two new fulfilment centres.
The first of Zalando’s two Polish fulfilment centres is currently under construction in Biale Blota, close to Bydgoszcz, and the second in the conurbation of Bydgoszcz is set to be constructed in the first quarter of 2022.
Including office space, the fulfilment centre in Bydgoszcz will have 140,000 square metres of space and create 3,500 jobs. The Biale Blota fulfilment centre will be 100,000 square metres in size. 800 jobs will be created at the site, which is set to be opened in March 2022.
The sites have been chosen for their proximity to other Zalando hubs in Poland as well as the city’s proximity to other cities in Europe.
“The investment in Bydgoszcz and the surrounding area will allow us to expand our European logistics network and support growth of our shopping club, Zalando Lounge, which has become popular with customers across our markets, in particular in Poland. For the first time we will have two sites in one city, which is unique to our logistics network and will provide us with the opportunity to unlock new potential in how to set up successfully collaborating teams for an even better convenience proposition for our customers,” says Martin Rost, Senior Vice President Offprice at Zalando.
