Deutsche Post DHL and REWE Group expand partnership

Deutsche Post DHL is expanding its Packstation, Parcel Shops and partner branch customer contact points in Germany with the addition of 3,500 REWE Group stores.

Philipp Schachten, advisor to the CEO of the REWE Group, said, “We have been working successfully for years to make shopping in supermarkets, discounters, or hardware stores even more attractive, with additional offers. The focus is on offers that make everyday life easier for customers.

“Parcel services at our locations have the advantage that customers can combine receiving and sending parcels with shopping in REWE Group stores. We see that customer acceptance is very good. We will therefore continue to increase the number of stores with this service.”

REWE Group say that the demand for parcel delivery has grown significantly in Germany recently. Its brands including Nahkauf, PENNY, and Toom Baumarkt have been working with Deutsche Post DHL since around 1995.

Holger Bartels, head of multichannel sales in the post-and-parcel division of Deutsche Post DHL, said, “The cooperation with the REWE Group enables us to offer our post and parcel services at locations that are easily accessible and very attractive for our customers.

“This applies to both urban and rural areas. In particular, our Packstation service is becoming more and more popular with our customers, as packages can be picked up and sent there flexibly, without waiting times and without contact.”
