Posti given award for carbon emissions reduction

Finnish Posti has been given a winner’s award at the World Sustainability Awards 2021 for its carbon emissions reduction programme. Seven international companies including pharmaceutical giant Bayer and beer makers Heineken have also been selected for the finals.

The World Sustainability Awards is a competition that has been organised in conjunction with global sustainability assessor EcoVadis. An international jury looked at the efforts of big organisations in 12 sustainability series including emissions reductions, human rights and the circular economy.

“The award now received is a tremendous tribute to the long-term and systematic climate work we have been doing at Posti for decades. As we have read in the IPCC reports this autumn, climate action needs to be even more ambitious, and we are aiming for emissions-free transport in an even faster timeframe,” says Sustainability Director, Noomi Jägerhorn.

Compared to 2007, Posti had managed to reduce its overall carbon emissions by 34%. The postal operator managed to reduce its emissions by 14% in 2020 alone. It aims to be completely carbon neutral by 2030.
