US pharmacy chain Walgreens has launched a same-day, under-two-hours delivery service for its retail products. Customers across the US will now be able to order from a selection of 24,000 products directly from the Walgreens website and app.

No minimum order is required and using the website or app, customers will be given the option of same-day delivery at the checkout. Contactless delivery will be made within two hours. Members of myWalgreens will still be able to receive the Walgreens Cash Rewards scheme as well as redeeming digital promotions and savings. Products, delivery hours and fees will vary by location.

“As the country gets ready to emerge from the pandemic, Walgreens continues its focus on enhancing our customer experience through integrated and simplified shopping solutions,” said Stefanie Kruse, vice president of digital commerce, Walgreens. “Since the launch of myWalgreens in November 2020, we are constantly innovating to provide convenient delivery options to our customers that make their lives easier. We are confident that customers will enjoy our new Same Day Delivery functionality for those last minute needs.”

The move to an in-house same-day service follows trialling of such services with third party carriers including Postmates, DoorDash and Instacart, many of which relationships are set to continue.
